    What you will need

    To make this simple and quick air fryer chicken cutlets, you will need the following ingredients

    Boneless skinless chicken breasts: the larger they are the better as that will make slicing it easy.

    Oregano

    Parsley

    Smoked paprika

    Avocado oil: substitute with olive oil

    Onion granules

    Garlic granules

    Salt and black pepper

    Air fryer: this recipe was tested in COSORI 5.5L and Instant vortex 5.7L 1700W air fryer. You can use any air fryer you have.

    Meat thermometer: this is a handle tool to have when cooking any kind of meat. It is important that chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165F/74C. While there are other ways to check for the doneness of a chicken, using the thermometer is always the best and safest way.

    How to cut chicken breast into cutlets or thin slices

    It is very easy making your own chicken cutlets using a boneless skinless chicken breast. Depending on the size of the chicken, you can get between 2 to 4 thin slices from a chicken breast. More importantly, it is economical doing it yourself at home and the whole process takes less than 5 minutes.

    Step 1: Pat the chicken breast dry with a kitchen paper towel. This will ensure it doesn't slip or move when you are trying to cut it. You can wash the chicken if you want but make sure to do so safely.

    Step 2: Place the chicken breast on a chopping board and place your palm on the thickest part to secure it. Depending on how many slices you want, if you just want two slices then locate the middle point from the thickest part of the chicken breast then make a clean cut horizontally. If you want more than two slices then start cutting from the thickest part at the desired thickness you want. Be careful not to cut yourself in the process.

    How to cook thinly sliced chicken breast in air fryer

    Cooking thinly sliced chicken breast or cutlets in the air fryer is incredibly easy and you only require these simple steps

    First, you want to cut the chicken breasts thinly into cutlets if you haven't done so already. Refer to the above on how to do this

    Mix the seasoning: in a small bowl, combine oregano, smoked paprika, onion granules, garlic granules, parsley, salt and pepper and mix to combine.

    Drizzle avocado oil over the thin chicken breasts, and brush or rub it in with your hands.

    Sprinkle the seasonings over the chicken breasts and rub it in with your hand, flip and repeat this process making sure all sides of the chicken is well coated.

    Brush the air fryer basket lightly with oil then place the chicken breasts into the air fryer basket, making sure that they don't overlap or are too crowded. Depending on the size of the chicken, you may be able to fit 2-4 at a time especially if you are using a square basket.

    Set the air fryer to 390F and cook the chicken cutlets for 8 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165F. There is no need to flip it halfway but you can do this for a good measure.

    Remove the chicken from the air fryer, and let it rest on a plate for about 2 minutes before slicing or serving it. Enjoy!

    How long to cook thin chicken breast in the air fryer

    This is highly dependent on the thickness of the cutlets. Expect to cook it at 385F/190C between 6-8 minutes. You will know the chicken of cooked if checked with an instant meat thermometer or when it is white, opaque and no longer pink on the inside.

    Can I make this ahead of time

    Yes, you can absolutely make them ahead of time. Chicken cutlets are a great meal prep and it is always handy to have cooked chicken in the fridge to use through the week.
