This air fryer shake and bake chicken tastes incredible and packs a flavor punch you won’t forget in a hurry simply. Juicy and tender chicken breast that is crispy and cruncy on the outside.
This recipe uses chicken breast but you can use any cut of chicken you prefer. Let me show you how to make it using my easy-to-follow- step by step instructions.
Whether you are using premade shake and bake seasoning coat mix or making your own from scratch, you will be literally brown away with how flavorful chicken recipe is.
I am an advocate for making your own seasoning mix whenever you can but sometimes life just get in the way and you reach out for storebought ones. In this case, I am always partial to Krastfs Shake N Bake seasoning because truth be told, it is flavorful, it is an all rounder. More importantly, you wouldn’t need any additional ingredients apart from the little oil for coating your poultry.
You can buy the shake ‘N bake premade seasoning or make your own at home. Today I am using this with premade seasoning mix because the mixture has the perfect combination of seasonings, and it cuts back your prep time considerably. 20 minutes and you are done!
Why you will love this air fryer shake and bake chicken recipe
Here are a few reasons why you need to make this dish:
Quick: The hands-on work for the dish takes just a few minutes; the rest of the time is all up to the air fryer. You can save even more time by using a premade shake-and-bake mix instead of making one yourself.
Beginner friendly: No frills, no fancy skills. This recipe uses simple ingredients and the ease of the air fryer to make this recipe approachable to everyone.
Healthy: Chicken breasts are a lean protein, so they are already a healthy choice. That, combined with the (almost) lack of oil and the healthy cooking technique, makes this dish super healthy.
Versatile: Chicken breasts can be used for so many purposes. This spice mix makes the chicken super tasty and it can also be customized to suit your taste, so you’ll want to use it for everything!

Shake and bake seasoning: I used Shake ‘n bake original chicken seasoning coating mix. If time is not of the essence, you can make a copycat version, and it is easy to put together. See FAQ section for how to make it.

What to serve with Shake and bake chicken breast
As I mentioned above, This chicken is so versatile it can be served with almost anything! When I am feeling super healthy, I serve my chicken breast with salad and honey mustard dressing.
I also like to eat this with a serving of homemade fries and some sauteed spinach for dinner, but you can pick your favorite vegetables. Chop the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces to dress a salad or shred to make a delicious sandwich filling. Yummy!
Storage Instructions
To store: Let the chicken come to room temperature before transferring it to an airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to three days. Please be aware that you may not get the same crispy and crunchy outside since the coating is breadcrumbs. Nowever, reheating it in the air fryer can help bring it back to its original state. Can’t say the same for the microwave.
To reheat: The easiest way to reheat this chicken is to put it back in the air fryer for a few minutes. You can also pop it in the oven for a few minutes at 365F/180C.
To freeze: This recipe is great to have stored in your freezer because it's so versatile. I like to freeze each breast separately because it's already portioned for you. Place the chicken in a labeled Ziploc bag and freeze for up to 6 months or 3 months for optimum taste.
